no i have never heard a song by everclear on purpose. YAYYYYY!

"Jerry" as WE all know him.... could not possibly be affected by this sort of very shallow, weak pop junk that does not even take itself seriously. it just so happens that everclear had a career. they are purely the result of the BIg Label Media market that was the late 90s feeding frenzy courtesy of GRUNGE/Nirvana explosion..... and that time has long come to an end.

if this "band" was trying to come up NOW.... at best they would be a Myspace link and a tour of BARHALLS..... and OK, maybe they could be a mid to lower level act at LOLAPALOOZER....

REMEMBER: JERRY GARCIA (and by extension The Grateful Dead) was an ARTISTIC PROPOSITION.... they offered another choice to the cultural consumer that said: "...........HEY FOLKS......please join us! All body types accepted, all levels of consciousness appreciated. We're here to entertain you and WE PROMISE, we're not gonna serve up a piping hot microwave bag of processed CONVENIENCE! We're gonna put a big POT on the stove and turn the heat on high....and then we're ALLLL GONNA STIR"

man....mcG.... don't mess around being repulsed..... there are far more IMPORTANT THINGS that deserve your/our attention.

"I want to punch marty balin in his eye"
"I'd wanna kick pigpen if he were alive"

I hope Tito's getting royalties from this. It's obvious that Everclear ripped him off.

seriously, 'he lives' is right, Everclear is/was a flash in the pan, with crowds burdened by those who felt it was the cool thing to do; their lyrics are a shadow of even the worst GD compostion; yes, they enjoyed a period of fame and attention; but former druggie-junkie, big tattoo guy, Everclear founder/leader Art Alexakis is riding a thin wave of popularity these days, recently bankrupt; Jerry didn't need a tattoo to define himself, or any cool postures, or hateful lyrics; when Jer walked on stage, or into a room, the audience or those with him, knew without any doubt and for a fact that they were in the presence of greatness, a man who walked this earth for too short a time, but one who has left a personal and musical legacy that will render the future bearable, and show to the discerning listener the real from the fake and the mediocre; anyway, don't even know why i am posting this; must be this insane Other One that has gripped me post-midnite ...

The Grateful Dead were the targets of death threats in 1994-95. Vince Welnick dicussed those threatening phone calls to hotel rooms on KPFA in 1996. Increased security in the latter days was hardyly just over drug use in the parking lots.

What do you expect from sickos who listen to "death metal" and pistol packing rappers. Their gang wars are legendary. East hates West; so they have gun fights on the streets. Hardly a surprise that a bunch of punks are so violent.

The worst that Garcia' friends ever did was get drunk and shoot the empty liquor bottles with Pigpen's .22 caliber pistol...

What I find intersting about this is that they even know who Marty Balin and Pigpen are. How much does anyone want to bet that NONE of their fans did. I say this all past tense because that band is now in the past. HA! Let's burn that bridge to the past shall we?
